The handouts can be purchased in LSU Barnes & Noble Bookstore. The address is 2 Union Square, Baton Rouge, LA 70803. The telephone number is (225) 578-5137.
Thursday: Matrix algebra in linear regression models. Work on Daily Design 6 before class.
Poster proposal due in Feb. 13 (Th).
Make-up class is this Saturday Feb. 8. Same time/place as regular class. Extra sum of squares and general linear hypothesis test. Work on Daily Design 7 before class.
Here are some practice problems for MLR. We will discuss them next week.
Here are some practice problems for design identification. We will discuss on next week.
Week 5
Tuesday: Multicolinearity and SENIC example. Work on Daily Design 8 before class.
Exam I next Tuesday (Feb. 18). It covers the design identification from the handouts,
which I gave you at the beginning of this course, and page 1~53 in your course package.
You can bring one piece of formula sheet (A4 size and both sides) and a calculator.
I will provide the table if needed. No wireless device such as iphone can be used in the test.
Poster proposal is in due this thursday.
Thursday: Diagnostics and review. Poster proposal is due.
Here is the solution for the design identification practice problems.
Here is the solution for the MLR practice problems.
Your daily design should be original (i.e. not appeared in our exams, daily designs we used in class, and used by students from previous semesters).
Your daily design should have the background information.
You must clearly describe the experiment or observational study in your daily design.
Include some table or figure to make the things clear (this is optional).
Your daily design should include all ten questions (as in the sample) and choices for the answers.
Your daily design should include your answer to all the ten questions.
Your daily design should include reference.
It is ok to work as a group. But I will divide the points. For example, two of you submit the same daily design. Then each of you will get at most 10 points.
If your daily design is just single factor CRD with only experimental unit (i.e. sampling unit is the same as experimental unit), then you can only get up to 12 points.
You need to submit the daily design by the last week of the class.
I don’t need the hard copy. I only need the electronic copy via email.
Please save your filename as your name followed by the design, for example John_Smith_CRD.doc, John_Smith_RBD.doc, John_Smith_LSD.doc, etc.
Where can I find the studies suitable for daily design bonus problems? The best way is to find some journals in your study area. The search the papers related to a particular design.
